Boxer Gervonta Davis Arrested in Miami

The former three-division champion, Gervonta Davis, was arrested in Miami on Wednesday, two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued against him on charges of assault, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping, according to the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Gervonta Davis is a professional boxer who has won world titles in three different weight classes, securing five championships in total. He is currently ranked tenth in ESPN‘s pound-for-pound list. Beginning his boxing career at the age of seven, Davis turned professional in February 2013.

By age 22, he had established himself as the youngest active American boxing champion and was the first fighter from Baltimore to hold a world title in many years. Over his career, Davis has fought a total of 150 rounds with a knockout rate of 93.33%.

Notably, on April 21, 2018, he won the WBA Super World Super Featherweight title by defeating Jesus Cuellar via knockout.
