The 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season is about to crown a new champion. For the first time in history, Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps will compete in the MLS Grand Final, an unprecedented matchup between two clubs that have never reached this stage before.

The title match will be played on December 6 at Chase Stadium, home of Inter Miami, after the pink team earned more points during the regular season. Expectations are high, and American soccer will experience a chapter that could mark a turning point in its international growth.
Inter Miami advances with a 5-1 win over New York City FC
The Eastern Conference semifinal was a party for the home team. With 19,136 fans in the stands, Inter Miami crushed New York City FC 5-1 to secure its place in the 2025 MLS Final.
The star of the show was Tadeo Allende, who scored three goals, while Mateo Silvetti and Telasco Segovia completed the rout.
The match also set a world soccer record. After a key assist on Silvetti’s goal, Lionel Messi reached 405 assists, surpassing the mark set by the legendary Ferenc Puskas (404) and becoming the all-time assist leader.

Vancouver Whitecaps make history and eliminate San Diego FC
While Inter Miami dominated in the East, Vancouver Whitecaps shone in the West. The Canadian club defeated San Diego FC 1-3 in front of more than 32,000 fans at Snapdragon Stadium.
Brian White scored a decisive brace, adding to Pablo Sisniega’s own goal to seal the victory. Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, San Diego’s star player, scored the consolation goal.
Vancouver’s season has been nothing short of extraordinary. In addition to reaching its first MLS final, the team also competed in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup final, where it lost to Cruz Azul. In the semifinals of that tournament, the Whitecaps eliminated Inter Miami, adding a special twist to the title matchup.
Messi vs Thomas Müller: Two world champions face off
The 2025 MLS final will also be hugely attractive to the media. On the pitch will be two players who have made history:
| Player | Team | Titles |
|---|---|---|
| Lionel Messi | Inter Miami | +40 titles and record number of assists |
| Thomas Müller | Vancouver Whitecaps | 27 titles with Bayern Munich |
Müller, who arrived in Vancouver in the summer of 2025, has transformed the Canadian team’s attack and will be looking to cap off his debut with a championship.

On the pink side, Sergio Busquets will be playing his last season as a professional, adding an emotional reason for the club’s fans to cheer him on.
