Samsung has revealed new details about its smart glasses, a device developed in collaboration with Google, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster, which will hit the market this fall. While the company has yet to confirm the brand name, price, or exact release date, it has shared some of the features that will mark the debut of this new product category.
The South Korean company aims to compete in a market that has gained prominence in recent months thanks to the growth of these types of devices. However, it is also trying to address from the outset one of consumers’ main concerns: privacy protection and the handling of personal data.
Samsung focuses on privacy in its smart glasses
The new smart glasses will incorporate various features designed to offer greater control during use. One of these features prevents recording when the LED indicator light, which shows that the camera is active, is covered or blocked. This way, the device will stop recording images if the system detects that the indicator is not clearly visible.
Samsung also assured that user audio, shared screenshots, and video content obtained through the glasses will not be part of the training for its artificial intelligence models.

The company believes that trust will be a decisive element for the growth of this technology, so it will maintain a policy focused on transparency regarding data handling and allowing each user to retain control over their information.
These statements come at a time when several companies in the sector are facing questions related to recording images in public spaces without the knowledge of those present.
Samsung’s smart glasses will integrate with Gemini
The first generation of the device will focus much of its functionality on voice interaction through Gemini, the artificial intelligence assistant developed by Google. Later, Samsung plans to incorporate models with integrated screens, although this evolution will depend on the technology meeting the quality standards set by the company.

Design also played an important role during the product’s development. Samsung explained that it created specific components to improve the frame’s durability, including hinges and temples capable of withstanding the mechanical stresses of everyday use.

Weight distribution also received special attention to ensure a comfortable experience for extended periods. The company states that the placement of the battery, speakers, and other internal components prevents discomfort on the face and reduces heat transfer to the skin.
Once available, the glasses will become part of Samsung’s family of connected devices, alongside its foldable phones and smartwatches, with the aim of providing an integrated experience across all its products.
