Surveillance Footage Shows Fatal Shooting Outside Fort Lauderdale Home

A tragic early morning shooting claimed the life of a 32-year-old man outside his residence in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, with surveillance cameras capturing the horrifying incident as it unfolded in the Lauderdale Manors neighborhood.

Fort Lauderdale police responded to the 1300 block of Northwest 13th Court shortly before 4:30 a.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim inside his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Matt Menard, a father who leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter. Surveillance footage obtained by local media shows the shooter approaching Menard’s car and firing nine shots before fleeing the scene in another vehicle. At least three bullet holes were visible in the driver’s side window, and a nearby parked truck was also struck by the gunfire.

The victim’s father, Philippe Menard, revealed disturbing details about incidents that occurred in the days leading up to his son’s death. Just last week, someone set fire to plants at the family’s home, followed by another incident where shots were fired at the residence. The grieving father now questions whether these events were connected to his son’s murder.

Philippe Menard described his son as an intelligent young man who attended university and worked as a landscaper, though he acknowledged his son had associations with troubled individuals. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Fort Lauderdale Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
