Coral Reef Park’s Role and Features

The Village of Palmetto Bay is set to hold a groundbreaking event on Saturday, September 28, to initiate construction of a new recreation center building within Coral Reef Park. This park serves as one of the village’s key recreational spaces, encompassing over 50 acres of land that includes open grassy areas, preserved pineland habitats, and a serene canal.

Coral Reef Park was transferred to the Village of Palmetto Bay by Miami-Dade County following the village’s incorporation in 2002. Since then, it has remained a primary public park offering a natural and tranquil setting located within a residential neighborhood in South Dade. The park features a canal that is deep enough to accommodate kayaking and is surrounded by carefully maintained landscaping.

New Recreation Center and Community Enhancements

The upcoming recreation center is part of the village’s efforts to enhance community facilities within Coral Reef Park, making it a central hub for local residents. Following the groundbreaking in September, the village plans to hold a grand opening event for the facility and the adjacent pickleball courts, which will include live demonstrations of the new programs available to the public.

Coral Reef Park continues to be recognized as the premier park in Palmetto Bay, known for its vast green space and its blend of natural features and recreational opportunities. It remains a valued asset for the community, providing both outdoor activity options and scenic environments for visitors.
