Report points to Trump declaring war on Venezuela

Tucker Carlson said Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump may announce a war with Venezuela during a prime-time address to the nation. He citing information he said came from a member of Congress.

The claim was made on Carlson’s conservative podcast Judging Freedom, where he stated that lawmakers were informed earlier this week about a possible conflict that would be unveiled during the president’s speech scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

Carlson stressed that the information was secondhand and unconfirmed. He acknowledged uncertainty about whether such an announcement would actually occur and noted that his understanding was limited. Carlson did not name the congressperson who allegedly shared the information and offered no official documentation to corroborate the claim.

U.S. authorities have not supported the assertion. As of Wednesday, neither the White House nor the State Department had confirmed that Trump’s speech would involve a declaration of war or any military action targeting Venezuela. No official agenda has been released suggesting a major escalation in U.S. foreign policy.

Trump is expected to use the address to review his first year in office and outline goals for the remainder of his term, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Carlson, who rose to prominence as a Fox News host before his departure in 2023, continues to draw a large conservative audience and has frequently criticized U.S. military involvement overseas.
