Mexican and U.S. authorities have identified Venezuelan actress and DJ Jimena Araya, known as “Rosita,” for her possible links to the criminal organization Tren de Aragua. The action forms part of a broader binational effort targeting networks that allegedly support the Venezuelan-origin group.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Mexico’s Ministry of Finance announced sanctions against a total of 11 targets, including seven individuals and four entities. According to an official report, all designated parties provided material, financial, or technological support to Tren de Aragua.

Authorities from both countries coordinated a series of actions that included locating the individuals in Mexico, adding them to the country’s List of Blocked Persons, filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office, and issuing alerts throughout the financial system. Officials also reviewed information on “shell companies” operating in Mexico that allegedly facilitated the criminal group’s activities. Tren de Aragua has been linked to human smuggling, extortion, drug trafficking, and contraband.

Regarding Jimena Araya, Mexican financial authorities and the OFAC confirmed that she maintained financial activity in Mexico. Open-source information also suggests that she had a close relationship with one of the group’s leaders, which in previous years may have resulted in logistical support to the organization.

The binational investigation remains ongoing as both governments continue to track the group’s financial and operational networks.
