Rapper Daniel Hernández, globally known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, has been declared in contempt by the First Investigative Court of the National District in the Dominican Republic after repeatedly failing to appear for official summons. The judicial decision represents a critical turning point in his legal case and raises the possibility that the artist may spend the Christmas season behind bars.

The court emphasized that the contempt ruling allows authorities to impose coercive measures, including a potential arrest warrant, to ensure the rapper’s presence during the ongoing investigation.

Defamation case could make true Tekashi 6ix9ine arrest

The contempt declaration stems from a lawsuit filed by music executive Máximo Andújar, representing Andújar Music Group, S.R.L. According to the complaint, Tekashi 6ix9ine made defamatory and slanderous statements during an Instagram Live broadcast on December 14, 2023.

The video was later uploaded to YouTube under the title: “Tekashi talks about his fight with Yailin – Full Live.” Prosecutors argue that the rapper’s remarks damaged Andújar’s reputation and caused significant harm to his company.

Contempt could trigger arrest order to Tekashi 6ix9ine

Under Dominican law, being declared in contempt allows the legal process to proceed without the accused and enables stricter measures to guarantee compliance. Sources close to the case report that, if Tekashi continues to ignore the court summons, the judge may issue an arrest order before the end of 2025.

This scenario increases the likelihood that Tekashi 6ix9ine could spend Christmas in jail as the defamation investigation continues under the supervision of prosecutor Rafael Reyes.
