Florida Reports Over 3,000 Motorcycle Crashes with Significant Fatalities and Injuries

As of May 7, 2025, Florida has reported 3,136 motorcycle crashes resulting in 173 deaths and 2,737 injuries. The state’s year-round favorable weather encourages continuous riding. Florida ranks highest among states for motorcycle risks, driven by a combination of elevated fatality numbers and hazardous rider behaviors. In Escambia County, which includes Pensacola, there have been 103 motorcycle crashes this year, reflecting a concerning trend.

Across the United States through June 2025, motor vehicle fatalities have fallen by 20% or more in 10 states and the District of Columbia, although 12 states have seen increases. Within Florida, motorcycle deaths are generally decreasing statewide, but they have risen notably in Duval County this year. In 2023, Florida recorded 621 motorcycle fatalities and 8,191 injuries. According to Bernstein Law, there were 549 motorcycle fatalities in Florida during 2025, compared to 599 in 2024 and 621 in 2023. Nationwide in 2025, of 42,514 traffic deaths, 6,340 involved motorcycles.
