If you have plans for the weekend, prepare for the cold. South Florida will face a double cold front, bringing low temperatures, abrupt weather changes, and possible storms, according to the latest weather forecast.
The first cold front will bring the coldest air of the season
The first cold front in Florida is already on its way and will begin to be felt on Friday morning, when the season’s coldest air is expected to move into the region.
By Friday morning, temperatures will drop to:
- 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit in Miami-Dade and Broward.
- Similar conditions in the Florida Keys
Although there will be clear skies and sunshine, the weather will remain cold, with afternoon highs barely reaching 60 °F—an unusual scenario for the southern part of the state.
Saturday with wintry weather and more pleasant temperatures
By Saturday, the cold air will begin to recede, allowing a slight rebound in temperatures. Typical winter weather is expected in South Florida, with:
- Highs between 21 and 24 °C
- Sunny skies
- Nighttime minimum temperatures near 10 °C.
It will be the best day of the weekend for outdoor activities, although a light jacket is recommended at nite.

Sunday with rain and thunderstorms ahead of a second cold front
The weather forecast for Florida indicates that Sunday could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially before the arrival of a second cold front in the afternoon or evening.
After this system passes, another cold air mass will move into the region, causing a cold start to the work week on Monday.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is cold in Miami and South Florida
Those planning activities for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, or attending the college championship game between the University of Miami and Indiana University, should consider the cold conditions.
For Monday, the forecast is:
- Minimum temperatures between 10 and 15 °C.
- Highs of 18 to 21 °C
Although it won’t be extremely cold, it will be unusually cold for the region, so it’s recommended to dress in layers.
