Palm Beach Airport Officially Renamed to Honor Donald J. Trump

The Federal Aviation Administration made it official on Thursday: Palm Beach International Airport is now formally known as Donald J. Trump International Airport. The federal agency has updated all systems and publications to reflect the new three-letter identifier, changing from PBI to DJT.

In a statement released Thursday, the FAA instructed that all pilots, air traffic controllers, and aviation stakeholders must now use DJT for flight planning and operations. The change takes effect immediately, marking a significant milestone in aviation history as the airport honors the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

The inaugural landing at the newly renamed facility was nothing short of symbolic. Trump Force One touched down early Thursday morning, with Eric Trump and Congressman Byron Donalds among those present to witness the historic moment. The younger Trump took to social media to express his pride, noting that as someone who flies out of the airport nearly every day, seeing the initials DJT on his boarding pass holds special meaning.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy celebrated the occasion on social media, welcoming travelers to President Donald J. Trump International Airport. Florida lawmakers who championed the renaming legislation, including state legislators Meg Fountain and Debbie Mayfield, were recognized for their efforts in making the tribute possible. Erika Donalds, who was aboard Trump Force One for the inaugural landing, called it an honor to have DJT airport in the Sunshine State.

The airport, located at 1000 James L. Turnage Boulevard in West Palm Beach, serves as a major hub for travelers in South Florida and will now carry the name of one of the state’s most prominent residents.
